Reza Abdoh (1963-1995) was an Iranian-born American theatre director and playwright known for his groundbreaking, experimental productions. Abdoh died of AIDS in 1995 at the age of 32, having created an impressive body of stage spectacles known for their sensory overload, ferocious energy and hallucinatory dreamscapes. Abdoh was an enigmatic and prolific creative force and with his company, Dar A Luz, formed in 1991, he created productions that have made a major impact on experimental theatre worldwide and whose influences are still being felt and talked about to this day.

Tofu Ink Arts Press Prize: In Honor of Reza Abdoh: Visionary Arts Poetry Prize, in honor of Theatrical Visionary, Reza Abdoh, aims at publishing a visionary poem of un humdrum’d rhizomatic errant possibilities. We are looking for a polished poem that is absorbed in possibilities.  Art makes you think about thinking...PLEASE MAKE US THINK!  Send us your best rhizomatic visionary piece with a bio and we will feature you as our contest winner in our Winter Edition and you will be nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

 

Please submit on Submittable.  The final visionary winning poem will receive a publishing contract and publication of a Chapbook 20-40 pages.  Up to three additional visionary poems may be awarded "Honorable Mention" status and will also be featured on Tofu Ink. Poems will be considered for publication in Tofu Ink, regardless of whether they place in the contest.

 

​We acquire first North American serial rights upon acceptance. This includes the right to publish your material on our website as well as a possible future print edition, with permission. The author retains all rights of their work of course.


You can only enter one poem no longer than three pages. and it must be submitted as .doc, .docx, with your name, title, 12 Font Times New Roman & single spaced.  Only poems which have not been previously published in any form are eligible for consideration. Multiple entries are permissible, however, each entry require a separate fee. All entry fees are non-refundable.  No further edits will be allowed to poems once they have been submitted.  No Translations please of others’ work.  Only poems submitted with an awards fee will be eligible for prize consideration. The contest winner will be announced before November 2023.
